Where can you find online rules and resources for WH40K? It sounds fun.

Here is some great Web-sites with plenty o'info

Games Workshop - Creators of the game, its setting and the miniatures you need to play.

http://www.gamesworkshop.com/

This link will take you right to the 40k section if your not interested in the Fantasy Battles game
http://www.gamesworkshop.com/40kunivers ... iverse.htm

Portent.Net - Web portal to info about events and things of intrests to all GW hobby enthusiasts, have an excellent message board with thousands of players checking in, if you have a question they can answer anything.
http://www.portent.net/

New Wave Mail Order - A VERY hit or miss online mail order company that sell miniatures and hobby products. Their only virtue is that they have preview pic's of almost all the figures for all the Armies of the 41st Millennium. Great place to preview the armies and see which one appeals to you.
http://www.newwave.org/gw/wh40k/index.html

Dr. Fausts Painting Clinic - Great resource for learning how to paint the 28mm figures that GW sells. If you a painting novice , this site is a must. It will help you get over the initial frustration of painting decent looking miniatures.
http://www.paintingclinic.com/

If you need any more info , or have any questions , message me directly , or e-mail me at jd1138@yahoo.com I've been playing Warhammer 40k for nearly a decade and would be happy to help

Cheers , Lord Sokar

Hmmmm....never seen that one , looks cool , especially if your a fan of the Eldar (However I don't reccomend starting out with Eldar , unless your willing to be very patient and have your head handed to you in your first few games, Eldar are a VERY finess army, and fragile to boot , but they have some of the best weapons and troops in the game , you just have to know exactly how to ues them or a experienced player will murder you in short order)

Have kinda sifted Eldaronline.com , its cool , kinda like a Portent.Net , but dedicated to Eldar over other Armies. the Eldar have a very loyal following in the 40k world.

Their online store is cool , but I reccomend that you find a a local hobby store that carrys the game or can order it for you. I'm a crusader for the "Support your local game shop" idea. Put your money into their pockets , even if it means passing up "20%" off or some such. Your local retailer will appreciate it , and in the rather clannish world of 40k, getting to know the owner of your local store is often the first way to get your foot in the door with a local gaming group. Resort to mail order if the above is not possible in your area only. Just my two cents. :-)

Agreed. I play Imperial Guard, and each one of the four people I got into the game chose Eldar. I quickly became quite adept at killing the pointy-eared bastards, regardless of the scenario.

ESB - Are you leaning toward any specific type of Eldar Army ? I've faced , beaten , and had my ass handed to me by all of them. And can give you some pointers that might help you through thoes early 'teething' stages of an Eldar Army , plus save you some money by knowing what works and what you might want to purchase.

Hotfoot - What kind of Eldar Warhosts have you been facing? I got to watch a Guard player last week get ripped to shreds by an Ulthwe Host , I just love watching the Seer Council ginsu their way through Guardsmen:-)

I've had four craftworlds over my head for the past few years now. Alaitoc, Ulthwe, Siam-Hann, and Iyanden. I also face regular incursions from Biel-Tan, as well as vanilla Eldar. I have not only fought against Eldar, but fought as Eldar, and as such I know their strengths and weaknesses quite well, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the Imperial Guard. There are a handful of scenarios in which I, as IG, get royally screwed by a properly-made Eldar Force. I have even created two Eldar Forces which would give be a nightmare trying to face (one is IG-specific, the other pretty much screws anyone who doesn't have an entirely vehicular force). However, in most scenarios, I can usually grind Eldar down into a fine paste.

Ulthwe Seer Councils are annoying, but I've found that far too often players will dedicate their largest one-shot guns against them and hope against hope that they will just die. This is the wrong thing to do for multiple reasons. First and foremost is the invulnerable save Seers get. Nothing you can do about that. However, it's bound to fail eventually, and Seers don't exactly have the highest toughness in the world. My solution? If you can't negate, inundate. One standard tac squad, for 65 points, can lay down 9-18 lasgun shots (depending on range, distance moved, etc) and 3 Heavy Bolter shots per turn. You can buy several of these tac squads to increase the effect. Additionally, you can buy a Chimera, put a Heavy Bolter on the Turret, and load in a tac squad with another heavy bolter, stop the tank, open up the top, and have 9 heavy bolter shots coming from the tank in one round alone, and those heavy bolters chew up most Eldar infantry like nobody's business.

But wait, you say, the seer council has that annoying "perma-cover" spell? No worries, that's what Hellhounds and flamethrowers are for. Cover? What cover?

Besides, cover saves don't really matter if you've got a better invulnerable save anyway, so it's rather a moot point until you get into hand-to-hand. Assuming you get into hand-to-hand, of course.

The kind that wins :D

Seriously, a friend's been selling me on a Biel-Tan army with Dark Reapers and Banshees. I did want to try CHaos Mariens too, because they combine my love for bad-ass and evil.

Meh. Chaos Marines are okay, at the very least they're not the Cheese Marines...but if you want twisted spawns of Chaos and the pointy ears, try the Dark Eldar.

Yes, that is mostly true. However, they can be quite a fun force from what I've seen. Limited, perhaps, but fun. If you're going for style over substance, however, they're quite a good choice. Just remember that with Dark Eldar your primary concern is how to meet mission objectives, not just killing the other guy.

Forces like IG, on the other hand, meeting the objectives and killing the other guy are usually one and the same. 8)
