Pictures of NJO era ships

Post by Dark Primus »

Seen a lot of pictures of the old ships the Empire and New Republic has for a long time, but not much or if any ships between Thrawn trilogy and NJO novels. Are there any pictures of the ships from NJO era at all?

? cannon or fan wank.?

Been recently introduced to this website. In the starwars section you have;

Jade Saber,
Image
Fan wank imo, but the basic design is there.

Xwing T65J,
Image
Which I think if nifty as hell.

I've seen renditions of the Ranger but they look dumb.

On a side note, ran across this website today

http://njoproject.skywalkeronline.net/ns/index.shtml

Looking forward to anything I can get from there.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

The CD that came with the hardcover of The Unifying Force had a picture of a Vong coralskipper and cruiser in it.
The cover of Dark Tide: Onslaught showed a Vong corvette analog.

On the Jade Saber, since I just barely got done reading Vector Prime a few days ago, I got the impression that it would look alot like the Naboo Yacht from Ep II;

Not exactly, but some what like it.

Rather canon, but wank is fine if they are based on the ships mentioned in NJO, it can give a good idea on the basic designs.

Yeah, except that most of those are Galactic Civil War or Thrawn era ships. (CloakShapes date to the Old Republic, about the same age as the Z-95, IIRC.) Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that the unlabeled Corellian light freighters in the picture with the assault shuttles and Action IV freighter are YT-2000s.

If so (and its pretty likely), that's a crappy illustration of them. A YT-2000 looks like this:

I don't know. Are we sure those things are all guns? They might not be.

Yeah, I know. The illustration's pretty bad, but the general body shape is similar enough.

Fan wank imo
Yes, but it sure looks cool! A very "Star Warsy" design.

I have no idea, but an anteana farm like that on a shuttle? Doesn't mesh either. That and the wedge shaped fin on the bottom makes it impractable to land as well. If you go to that site and see the rest of the pics, the whole ass end is nothing but a small landing dock, leaving little room for ship systems.

The basic desing is there, imo, just that it got tripped out and accesorized too much for my tastes. That and when reading the description of the Jade Saber in Vector Prime, I came away thinking it was more rocket/flashgordon/Naboo Yacht looking.

What is this Bothan Assault Cruiser and Defender Star Destroyer? These are new to me.

The BAC, from what I've gathered lately, is a recent design via NJO built by the Bothans. Its basicly a Heavy Battle Cruiser with a fighter compliment. Able to stand up to SD's, designed to take a beating and still dish out some woop ass.

Not in as large numbers as the Mon Calamari ships, but probably meant to be competitive.

In the first couple NJO, the Star Defender is mentioned yet not detailed, some one who's probably read the whole series could comment more, but the premace is a level above Stardestroyer but not a SSD.

I have heard the Star Defenders (not the Defender Star Destroyers) are large Mon Calamari super cruisers, with a lenght of 8 kilometers, to counter the SSD's?

The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels has pics of a lot of YV ships, as well as ones like the Jade Sabre.
