Vong Spaceborne Weapons

Post by Captain Hornblower »

Does anyone know where I can find technical specs or descriptions of Vong spaceborne weapons?

Dunno much where you can find some, I spose I can tell you some of what I've found out though...

Their plasma cannons fire superheated rocks at high velocities, I think they are primarily a KE weapon, I believe it was said in one of the earlier books that they where weaker than their republic counterparts, atleast on starfighter sized vessels.

They got more stuff too, black hole mines, everything from small personal ones that destroyed a droid to the ones they use to interdict hyperspace lanes and pull moons down onto planets, this is all based on Dovin Basals which is a form of creature that manipulates gravity somehow, they also used those to pull Coruscant nearer to it's sun and to pulverize it's moons and turn them into a ring.

The YV stuff tends to be pretty weak, except for their ability to yank the shields off a starship. Without that power, they would have been toast.

Um, that site seems a bit... Empty.

Anyhow, as Ossus said, Vong weapons rely heavily on their ability to negate NR shielding. Their main weapons are simple plasma cannons that fire globs of superheated rock. They also have explosive "lava bomb" torpedoes. The thing about plasma cannons is that they seem to do light damage, but have a lingering effect. In most battles plama cannon ejecta would stick to the fighter and continue to burn through shields and hull. They also fire grutchins (giant, spaceborne insects) at enemy fighters. Grutchins are able to chew through armor and shields like it's nobody's business. But all of that is over-shadowed by the dovin basal, which can rip the shields right off of something.

That would be Vector Prime, page 194:

That's strange. There use to be a section on Vong warships, weapons, etc, and now it says under construction there,

Follow up question I have about the superheated rock projectiles.

1. How large are the rocks that are shot?

2. At what velocities are they fired?

3. At what tempurature are they fired?

TIA
