So did this scene take place in RoTJ or am I losing it?

You're losing it. That's the MF trashing a bunch of TIE interceptors. That was in the original AND 'special' editions.

Incidentally, if you want 'added scenes in the OT' then look nowhere else but the ROTJ SE, where we see multiple MonCals in the background (not in the original). I think Saxton catalogued them on his site. And I would think pointing this out would be old news. But since I'm correcting you anyway, I might as well throw that in as a freebie.
