Orca roughs up trainer
at San Antonio SeaWorld
Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO - Spectators at a SeaWorld killer whale show got more than they were expecting recently when the animal repeatedly slammed his trainer underwater.

The trainer, Steve Aibel, wasn't injured in the Friday incident, a videotape of which has aired all over the country this week.

The whale, Ky, began slamming Aibel during the show, and other trainers rushed to the side of the tank. Aibel, who has trained Ky for 10 years, said he was surprised and is unsure what prompted the behavior.

But he said Ky is near breeding age and may have just been feeling his adolescent hormones.

I saw it on the news yesterday and it looked like the whale was just playing with him. It pushed him around and then body-splashed him underwater a few times, but it didn't try to eat him or crush him into the aquarium walls. Looked like a just a bit of rough play to me.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

Yeh i agree with aerius, he looks like he's enjoying himself. He could probably get away with that out in the wild with other orcas

Well that is how they play in the wild. Jumping on each others backs and all...

Granted, it is practice for drowing grey whale calves...

I think that if a four ton whale wanted to hurt somebody, they wouldn't be getting out of the tank...

The Orca was probably playing a bit. Orcas are like that. I'm sure the trainer wasn't even mad at the scamp.
