No, it should be- "Mike, give me that video card, since it is better than my TNT2, and you don't need a good one on a server anyway."

Not if it's a dedicated server, but if it does anything else...

Isn't something like Debian better for a server though? Mandrake strikes me as annoying to update and maintain (witnessed someone go through RPM hell configuring a Mandrake server- yes you can compile from source, but it dirties /usr/local, and is often not uninstallable unless you use GNU Stow). A new Debian installer is about to be released which should make installing it quite a bit easier.

Can you host CounterStrike with it?

Not bad. I've been amusing myself with Netcraft recently.
One forum I go to, one of the board admins argued that Windows was a good OS (ha!).
Turned out his forum was being hosted on FreeBSD

In that case, make a UT and Quake 3 server as well...

What?
This is StarDestroyer.net!

This is a intellect oriented place, I demand a GC2 server.
That said, thats an awesome build for a server.

I'm sad because that GeForce 2 is probably better than my old, old Radeon on this computer. I mean, a
server with a better graphics card than a regular desktop?

Look for the "Activision Essential Collection" release of Jedi Academy. It's only a measly AU$10.
EDIT: On-topic, what's the internet/networking hardware used on this server?

Agreed

.
Anyway, my server specs:

4 GB HDD
96MB SDRAM
Graphics: ????
OS: Debian Linux Unstable
Purpose: Web/SVN/Storage
I don't know much more, since I administer it remotely.

Webserver:
Cyrix 266
4x16MB EDO Ram
I dont even know what videocard
30GB Maxtor 7200 RPM
Windows 98 SE
Apache 2.0 with PHP 4 and MySQL database
Online since january 2004 and only shut down once because of powerfailure
Ultima Online Pirate server:
AMD 3200
2x512MB Corsair 400MHz DDR
ASUS GF4 Ti4400
1x80GB Maxtor 8MB
1x80GB Maxtor 2MB
1x200GB Maxtor SATA
Windows 98 SE
RunUO 1.0 with custom ruleset, item and monster scripts with at total of 400KB of C# scripts made or modified by myself.
Only activated on request, no significant crashes in over a year, been up for 3 weeks straight often, without incidents, could no doubt keep it up longer but I shut it down if there are too few players because it eats to much electricity to my taste.
Joke server (has been up for a month or so end of 2003 to brag)
486 133@166 MHz
2x64MB Fast Page RAM
Matrox 8MB videocard
Another linked videocard with 12MB, cant remember what it is called
120GB Maxtor 8MB (yes you read correctly)
Windows 98 SE
Had similar server programs as the Cyrix has now. Did a fine job but took the other PC because this PC is not replacable should anything get damaged.

Eww... Win9x servers...
Anyway, I run Apache 2, using the CGI interface for PHP, and maybe mod_perl loaded? Deflate compression is enabled.
