Putting together an AMD Athlon XP 3000 for my brother to replace the
Old Dell 1.4 ghz P4 he's using.

Anyway, it's an Asus A7N8X Motherboard, with an Antec 480w power
supply.

Basically, I decided to test it to see if it POSTed before I went to all the work of installing the drives; and apparently the video cards dont' work,
I've tried an Geforce 5200 FX and a ATI Radeon, they don't output any
data at all to the VGA ports, even though their card fans are spinning :?

I take it the monitor works on other computers? If so, try and rustle up a PCI video card, and see if it'll work with that. If it still doesn't work, odds are they cocked up the BIOS flash in the factory.

Just tried the PCI from another one - no go - odd thing is, CompUSA where we got the Mobo said it worked, with PC2700, I'm trying PC3200
memory, could this be the problem, even tho the board is rated for it?

YES

It works - it's because I didn't push the memory all the way in so it would SNAP......I was a fraid of breaking it......

Especially hard if one has too strong a hand for their own good. My laptop's Cardbus, while stable for most users, feels fragile for me. :?

But thanks for the warning, should have to keep that in mind.
