SAN DIEGO -- Four Sailors attached to Naval Special Warfare Command face disciplinary actions based on evidence obtained during an ongoing investigation into alleged detainee abuse in Iraq from October 2003 to April 2004.

Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command informed the four Sailors Sept. 2 of the charges pending against them under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The charges against the four Sailors include failure to report maltreatment of detainees to proper authorities (Art. 92, UCMJ), maltreatment of detainees (Art. 93, UCMJ), false official statements to investigators (Art. 107, UCMJ), assault and aggravated assault (Art. 128, UCMJ), and solicitation to commit an offense (Art. 134, UCMJ).

The dates for any disciplinary hearings have not yet been set. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigation remains open. The Navy takes all allegations of abuse seriously and will conduct appropriate review of all available evidence involved in this case.
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
