Good Firewall

I'm looking for a good firewall for a windows machine running xp. I'd prefer it not to cost too much (none at all) but If there are no good free alternatives... So anyway, anyone know of a good firewall I could use primarily for blocking access to certain ports/programs (IE comes first to mind).

Sygate Personal Firewall is also quite nice, I've got that one. Doesn't cost anything either.

I second Kerio. I never liked ZoneAlarm.

Thirded on Kerio. I'd normally recommend the 2.1x series as it's more streamlined, but Kerio hasn't updated it for compatibility with the Windows Security Console yet (resulting in constant nags if you haven't disabled the warnings). The 4.x series suffers from some bloat, but performs effectively and does integrate with SP2 just fine. Just disable the Web Filtering function, as it doesn't work very well and will nag you to buy the Pro edition on startup (plus, all of the filter's functions and more can be duplicated via Firefox+Proxomitron).

Fourthed on Kerio. Take Datana's advice as well.
Adblock.xpi works as well as Proxomitron to kill the ads...

I love Zonealarm, easy to configure and hasn't let anything happen.

Switched to Kerio.
Problem with ZoneAlarm is that one of its components gets bigger and bigger and bigger by the minute of you have a filesharing program running. Sometimes it would hog over 70MB of ram...

Another vote for Kerio here. Zonealarm = alarmist bloatware bullshit software.
