How many Borg Cubes to defeat a ISD II?
Assume normal conditions for all the ship, open space, and the cubes are the same type as seen in TNG.
Depends on how strong a cubes weapons are, I can't get stats from anyone here.
I'm also trying to find out what strength torpedoes the shield calcs were based on

75-100 is Low end considering the ISD posses weapons even on the most ludicrius calcuations(Alseaka mentioned 82 Gigaton shielding Borg ships I belive is the high end) that are twice as powerful as it takes to destroy and can eliminate 100 Cubes in less than five seconds and do it agian.
As they say
50 Medium Guns=200 Gigatons
50 Heavy Guns= 200 Gigatons+ unknow exactly how much
50+50=100 with a 2 second Firing rate sooooooooo(Ignoring targbility and abilit to hit of course considering Cubes Demostrated manvriability I don't think anyone will aurgue it)

By my calculations in the Sov thread it would take 9 waves of 1000 cubes firing one 256(generous estimate) megaton a second(fast for a cube) to take down an ISD firing with it's MTLs and HTLs to take down just the shields.

I once saw claims of 15 TT borg shields, butthe person never posted the calcs for them for analysis. Normally I'd dismiss it, but it wassuppossedly based on a chunk of planet hitting the cube in scorpion, so I wasn't sure

LMAO! It's possible that the chunk of planet hitting the ship in Scorpion did that much damage (I really don't know, and I'd rather not look it up), but in case he didn't notice, the ship's shields did NOT stop the impact. More importantly, withholding calculations is clearly a dishonest method of debate. Disregard his statement as being fraudulent.Ender wrote:I once saw claims of 15 TT borg shields, butthe person never posted the calcs for them for analysis. Ah, it's nice to see the difference in mindset between Trekkies and Warsies. The former ask "How many ISD's to take on a Borg Cube?", while the latter ask "How many Borg Cubes to take on an ISD?"
However, both sides come up with similar numbers for their answer...
Oh well. My answer? "A lot".

That's because a lot of ISDs can take on a Cube. They all shine their headlights and kill it.SPOOFE wrote:Ah, it's nice to see the difference in mindset between Trekkies and Warsies. Who the hell voted for 5-10?
Anyway, ISD II can BDZ a planet in a matter of hours. ISD II shields can survive at least one ISD II salvo. The Borg queen's cube was maimed horribly by Federation phasers in ST:FC, which did little more than start some fires in TDiC. Ergo, ISD II>Borg cube.

1000th POST!! I AM A JEDI MASTER!
Anyway, that's assuming the ISD II is just gonna sit there waiting for the cubes to hit. Warp is significantly slower than hyperdrive (Voyager is proof of that), and SW sensors can track FTL objects. As soon as the cube comes in range, microjump.

Yes. one googol (I'm not making this up) = 10^100, which would defeat an ISD. Hell, they even have a name for the number of cubes it would take to defeat a DS - one googolplex (10^10,000)IG-88E wrote:Do they even have names for numbers that high?Renewed_Valour1 wrote:How many Borg Cubes to defeat a ISD II?
data_link has resigned from the board after proving himself to be a relentless strawman-using asshole in this thread and being too much of a pussy to deal with the inevitable flames. Buh-bye.

Hm...
I'm just going to say that if, not knowing anything about the foe, your average Star Destroyer captain blunders into a bunch of cubes, his first instinct would probably be "Get us out of here!"
Of course, if he's forced to open fire...

That's if we assume that mass lightening doesn't reduce their mass to the equivilent of a tissue, LOLYogi wrote:If the Borg are serious, all it takes is two or three cubes ramming the ISD at Warp 9.999.

Somehow I don't see the logical progression of a ship being able to go to FTL without using brute force (not that you can go FTL using brute force) and retaining it's relative mass yet gaining an extra "kick" through kinetic energy from being FTL. I might be wrong and misinterpreting some scientific concepts, but it just doesn't seem to mesh...Yogi wrote:Warp distorts Space/Time, but doesn't go outside it. Getting rammed by a ship going at warp WILL hurt.
