Question about force choking.

Post by Gandalf »

When someone is force choked, does it just cut off the air to the person's brain?

Or does it stop things like blood as well?

it just cuts the air. cutting the blood would kill them a lot faster, without the coughing symptoms.

Well............ the Glove of Darth Vader children series says that Vader killed the people by causing a stroke at the brain. Well, at least, that what i seem to get from the myriad descriptions and the "sonic" thingjamigy that they used to fake that ability.

It depends on how hard the person is "squeezing."

where, as well. blocking the windpipe is different from blocking the jugular, although they are next to each other.

I'm sure a Sith could, if he cared to, block the carotid artery and render his victim unconscious in seconds and dead in minutes. But that would be virtually painless and wouldn't make a good spectacle for the witnesses.

He's just cutting off the air. In ANH we see Vader release an officer from the choke at the request of anohter general. Hard to do if you're causing a stroke.

We don't know how long it takes to kill either. In TESB we see Needa choked to death, but the camera pans to him already on his knees, we don't know how long the choking had been going on.

Also in TESB we see Ozzel choked, but I don't remember too many of the details of the killing, so I can't comment. If someone can fill in some blanks that'd be great.

Vader's personal use of it was to cut the air off, ensuring a slow, painful, terrifying way to die.

Other Sith used other means, including stirring the brain matter, collapsing the heart....

It takes Admiral Ozzel 23 seconds to die, or at least to collapse to the deck.
