If children are the future, than I am the future, since I'm just barely over the TOS age limit.
Still, that's pretty messed up. It's my personal belief that you cannot rationally justify a belief in God, and any attempt to try will result in failure.

Yes, may the State save us all from the menace of the hopeful... Seriously, they're annoying as fuck, but as of now they're so fucking neutered that they pose no worse a threat than the foppish idiots and corseted sluts who prance around city parks speaking in Ye Olde Englishe and pretending to some distorted, centuries-expired version of European "Nobilitie".

The spaceships Nadesico and Unity will be ready to go by the end of this year, but construction on the Cosmos will take a while yet. Also the E project has been proceeding 14% behind schedule, which could be a problem if the Angels show up. Tickets will be made availabe to all Nergal personnel, as well as all SD.net members with more than 10 posts - excepting, of course, village idiots, fundie morons, right-wing gay bashing racist loudmouths, racist donkey-fucking sons of whores, Elitefitness morons, Infantile Brats, and persons who have dared to blaspheme our lord Wong. To recieve your ticket, please call 1-800-NOTAREALNUMBER.

They're not as harmless as you think. They exert a disproportionate amount of effort toward political activities, and tens of millions of Americans have been swayed by the idiot lure of creationism thanks to their tireless efforts. Moreover, Asscroft is a fundie, and he's in charge of national security.

Are there a disproportionately large number of fundamentalists compared to atheists? I doubt it. They've gotten around to fucking up the Pledge of Allegiance, so I seriously doubt the fundies are exercising a fraction of the control everyone gives them credit for.
OK, then why isn't prostition legal? Why isn't homosexual marriage legal in most states? Why do three states have laws against sex toys? Why do half a dozen states (including Texas) have laws prohibiting people from serving in public office unless they believe in a supreme being? Why do the Boy Scouts bar atheists from joining?
The judiciary barred the mutilated version of the Pledge of Allegiance from being mandated in schools. But Congress voted almost 100% to force the issue and try to overturn their judgement. Fundies are far more dangerous and powerful than you are willing to admit.

Raoul, STFU before Wong makes you a Village Idiot again. May I remind you that the original pledge of allegience did NOT contain the words "under God" in it. If anything, atheists are trying to UN-fuck up the Pledge, and the fact that they are being met by massive resistence is proof that fundies wtill have way too much power.

Well, it appears that you're right -- the amendment to add the words, "under God" was passed in 1954. I concede that point; however, I still believe that if Fundamentalists had the power you credit them, the movement to omit, "under God" would not have succeeded.

Prostitution is illegal (in most places) I would assume because few people have challenged it It is legal in Las Vegas, where it operates under regulation like any other industry. Homosexual marriage I will grant you; that stems from Biblical concepts of immorality. As far as sex toys go, I have no idea. That seems outmoded even to me, something like the apocryphal law that you can't ride a camel underwater with no pants on. As far as barring atheists from serving in public office, that's simply a useless law -- anyone can lie and say they believe in God when they don't. As far as the Boy Scouts go, they have every right to bar Atheists from joining, much as the Girl Scouts have every right to bar boys from joining. It's a club, as far as I know.
Most of these laws are still laws because, to the best of my knowlege, they haven't been challenged, or because they've been upheld by the majority.

If I meet you, I will come to the logical conclusion that you exist. That's exactly how I come to the conclusion that God exist.
Really? This guy has actually met God face to face? Even though certain verses in the Bible say its impossible?

2 Mos 22:18
If it was Judaism you wanted to discuss, then why didn't you say so from the start?
So the Old Testament isn't part of the christian Bible? Strange...
What the heck is 2 Mos? I don't know of any book by that name.

When you ask a fundie why homosexuality is wrong, they quote the Old Testament. When you ask a fundie why Christianity encourages violence and hate, they quote the New Testament. When you say the two are in conflict on this point (although the distinction isn't as white and black as they say), they say "no they aren't" and stick their fingers in their ears.

Exodus, or as some people sometimes call it: the second book of Moses.
Ah. Never heard it put that way before. Particularly since there's no way Moses wrote all that attributed to him, since he DIES before the end of the Pentateuch.
