Actually this ship was done in about eight hours over the course of a coupla days. I'm not quite done with it...
I have also decided it shall be a Star Wars ship. It's got it all: sleek yet industrial looking, big engines and guns, the '70s styling, and a hyperdrive that can keep up with the Millenium Falcon without looking like it almost lost to an ISD. I think I'll make its backstory an experiment on how small one can design a fighter around a small hypermatter core...
Nice ship but may I suggest shortening the forward gun by at least half? It is too long or are you trying to tell us something?

Do you mean like he's ignorant of the concept of barrel erosion? I'm assuming though, on the basis that it has a muzzle break that its a projectile weapon.

It's a heavy duty laser cannon. I've seen them occasionally on blasters, usually labeled as flash suppressors. I may redesign it...
See, this is what you get when you have a gay guy design your ships for you. The 'extension of my manhood' gunship.
I think maybe you should mount the ubercannon either above or below the main body of the ship, so it basically looks lie a ship welded to the top of a big gun. Maybe not shorten the barrel, but mount the gun further back on the dorsal or ventral surface, and then it wont jutt out so much and make it look unbalanced. It's also a bit busy right now, I can see why the Trek guys didn't take to it too much as they are fond of their clean lines and crap-free surfaces. SW fans like stuff that has bits dangling everywhere and surfaces covered in boxes. Tone down the antennae and maybe the swept farings on the wingtips a little, and for once in your life go with a colour other than red. With it a more Star Wars colour, and slightly cleaner lines, it could be a heavy hitting anti-capital ship weapon, a flying 'big gun'. Just my opinion, of course, feel free to tell me to cram it.
Einy I tend to hide the guns either inside or under body (when looked from above), since that way the isn't an easy target hit in front of the craft and I have agree with kenny on the color only Jedi or diplomat craft are mostly red in SW (exept for the A-wing). (look at Rebells figthers, they tend to different shades of grey all of them). but otherwise the basic shape is good.
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

First, the gun is mounted to a turret on the ventral surface a la Spike Spiegel's ball-turret gun.
Second, I shall take up your suggestion about using a different color and toning down the spikes and antennas a bit.
Third, there's no way in HELL you'll get me to tell you to stuff it

Its location defies logic as a flash suppressor, since if there was a flash to suppress it would then be directing it upward... right into the pilots line of sight.

Fixed. Redesigned the FS from a cross pattern to an X pattern.
Might I suggest that instead of using a big ass cannon of doom, that you go with smaller turrets with a large FOV? No offense, but big cannons often don't last very long as they'd be the first thing to be fired upon. If you're dead set on a large cannon, might I suggest that you have it recessed into the hull? You can have it fire off-axis (ala Minbari) if you like, for compensation.
