A country would, after all, be AIDS-free if all people who have HIV are executed before developing to the stage of AIDS, and it's hardly impossible to imagine the DPRK just shooting people who screen positive for HIV and then incinerating the corpses to keep starving children from eating them.

This could be true, but they're not going to win any commendations for this bold statement anytime soon. Still, don't trust everything they claim. My nextdoor neighbour claims to be the world's best dad which I feel is bullshit (my dad's the best).

Getting rid of the virus by extermination or harsh quarantining would be viable, but it would also mean being somewhat inhumane. Either we live with it, or get rid of it and a part of our humanity.

For once, this is something that I can believe. The NKs are so isolationist that they haven't had any significant migration into the country (hell, I would think that they haven't had any inwards migration PERIOD). And as AIDS/HIV is only about 25 years old or so, it's unlikely that it would have made it into NK within this time. Even if you do have the occasional horny NK diplomat going whoring, it's unlikely that this would cause significant infections among the NK populace. In any case, the NK culture is extremely puritanical among all its other faults, so any cases there wouldn't have much chance of spreading the virus (the main reason for the AIDS catastrophe in sub-Saharan Africa is because of their extremely liberal attitudes towards sex, and unprotected sex at that).
