I am being ripped apart... kinda
My parents are divorcing and my mom is moving to texas. She wants me to go with her. I would but I have all my friends here in plainfield. You have met some of them I would like being in texas but I would much rather be here. But if I stay here I have to live with my father. Bad. I leave in a year on my own. I dont want to leave all my friends. But I dont want to tell my mom no. Any advice?
Be at peace with yourself. Enjoy life.

Here's what it comes down to: which parent do you feel better about? Now, I'm not saying you should play the two off against each other, but think carefully about how they treat you, talk to you, treat you friends, ect.
The moving thing isn't so bad (trust me, I've done it a bunch of times), but the parent decision is. Think a lot about this, and think hard.

Here's the best advice I can give you. Decide what you want to do. Don't worry about hurt feelings, don't worry about how you'll do it. Decide what you want to do.jodathalas wrote:My parents are divorcing and my mom is moving to texas. She wants me to go with her. I would but I have all my friends here in plainfield. Once you've decided, do it. Figure out how and follow through. Ruining you life because you can't tell someone that does neither of you any favors.

Sorry to hear of your parents' divorce. Truly, I did not have to go through that and would that nobody did.jodathalas wrote:My parents are divorcing and my mom is moving to texas. Stay with your father. Your mother will always be accessible to you, but you may only have one year left with some of your friends, since you may lose contact with many of them when you go off to school. If anything your mother should adjust herself to accommodate to you, not the other way around, since your mother is the one initiating the divorce (along with your father, of course), not you.jodathalas wrote:My parents are divorcing and my mom is moving to texas. I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Leaving your friends is pretty bad. But you can always make new ones in Texas.
And you've said that staying with your dad is bad. Here's something for you:
Friends: you can choose who you want to hang out with, where, and when. It's all up to you.
Parent: This is the big factor, because that person is the one you'll be living with in the same house, and the person who'll be doing all the parenting.
My advice: Go with the parent you get along most with. Friends you can choose and all, but once you choose a parent you have to stay with them. Pick the best one.

Oh, it's as bad unless you live on the west side. On the east side in summer it's humid and rains all the time. But I won't even vote, don't go by the poles, go by which parent is best.jodathalas wrote:In some spots it is fairly empty. But mostly it is citys and towns. Urban. If you were like 3 or 4 years younger, I would say go with you mom, but since, as you say, you only have a year left at home, you might as well stay where you are, rather than resettling in a new place only to be removed from it in a year. Why don't you go to college in Texas so you can be closer to your mom?

I would like to stay in plainfield. I know I could always make new friends but I know it isn't easy leaving your old ones. I went through it when I left California. I have known some of my friends up here for several years now. My dad is pretty bad but I think I could stay with him for another year. I have done it with both parents for the past 17 years I have reletives in Texas so I wouldn't mind being there, but I have many reasons to stay here. Friends, memorys, I like it here, ect. I want to live here. It is going to make my mother very disapointed to hear that I want to stay. Of course, I would visit her. I can't go to college though. I am so inelegable that nobody would accept me. I know I am smart, but I have done nothing for school these past few years. I wish I could go back 5 years and change a lot of things. I am just now realizing what hardships it is going to cause me. Oh well, nothing I can do now. Just save lots of money. I want to try to join the Airforce though. I have always wanted to fly aircraft.Durran Korr wrote:If you were like 3 or 4 years younger, I would say go with you mom, but since, as you say, you only have a year left at home, you might as well stay where you are, rather than resettling in a new place only to be removed from it in a year. Still in School?
Any plans on attending higher education?
I would go or stay according to where you can get the best education. That is where your real future is, not in your friends.
Could anyone of your parent afford to send you to collage alone? If so go with that one.
Commit to yourself, don’t plan on a future flipping burgers or something like that.
