Weird thing about the Death Star
I own the Star Wars Essential Guide to Vehicles. It says the Death Star II is 160 km in diameter. Yet, a website says its 800 km. Which one is it? I'm confused

The second Death Star is much larger than the first.StarWarsJunkie89 wrote:I own the Star Wars Essential Guide to Vehicles. It says the Death Star II is 160 km in diameter. Yet, a website says its 800 km. Which one is it? I'm confused

The Death Star 1 was 160 km across. After it got destroyed the Empire decided to make the DS2 bigger and more powerful. The second Death Star is something around 800 km. Hope this helps.StarWarsJunkie89 wrote:I own the Star Wars Essential Guide to Vehicles. It says the Death Star II is 160 km in diameter. Yet, a website says its 800 km. Which one is it? I'm confused

The Essential Guide is known for technical inaccuracies. Don't worry, I have it too.StarWarsJunkie89 wrote:I own the Star Wars Essential Guide to Vehicles. It says the Death Star II is 160 km in diameter. Yet, a website says its 800 km. Which one is it? I'm confused
Lucas intended for it to be 800 km. The designed intended for 800 km. The model compared to the planet in the stills in SW is about 800 km.
Therefore, it is 800 km.

Don't forget that the entire operation was completely secret, and that Xizor only transported the raw materials– ever bit of the station was assembled from raw elements on-site.
Why wonder why? The answer is simple: obviously, someone somewhere decided that he or she needed Baby Jesus up the ass.

The scary thing is that if the Empire could have gone all out, they could have achieved that. It's already been proven that the DSII was very easy for the Empire to construct.tumbletom wrote:Holy Crap!! I never thought the size difference was that freakn big....wow... It's a giant "fuck you" to the Rebel Alliance.Robert Walper wrote:Why the hell did the Empire need to make the second Death Star so much bigger? Damn waste of resources if you ask me. Any practical reasons the DSII needed to be fives time the diameter and 125 times the ovlume of the original? Dick waving contests aside that is...

Possibly something to do with the ability to target capital ships or fire more shots repeatedly? I also thought it had something to do with the Emperor wanting to have his own deadly artificial world to rule from, I know the essential guides are crap but they do mention a 100 story observation tower for the Emperor's throne room on the most heavily shielded part of the station, perhaps he was going to rule the galaxy from the DSII rather than Coruscant to project his power anywhere at anytime.Robert Walper wrote:Why the hell did the Empire need to make the second Death Star so much bigger?
