best RPG party( any characters, any RPG)

Post by Moonshadow »

well this is a spin off of the FF thread. What would the the best RPG battle Party?

Mine would be

Crono(CT), Cloud(FFVII), Millenia (Grandia II), and Vyse ( Skies of Arcadia)
Born of different worlds, woven together by fate, each shall rise to face their destiny- Grandia II, one of many reasons to be a Dreamcaster

Are we considering the party's average power level, or their maximum power level? Final Fantasy VII characters can theoretically unleash materia combos that define the term "unfair", but it takes time to build them up to that level.

haven't thought of that. Grandia II characters can be that way as well. Millenia and Ryudo are insanely powerful at the end.

And the ones in FFX can STILL laugh and call them puny.

The best DAMAGE party would be -

Wakka (FFX) - Attack Reels at full power is capable of inflicting 1.2 Million damage. Numerically this is the most powerful attack you'll see anywhere.

Tidus (FFX) - Likewise vast damage, Blitz Ace deals 900,000 a pop.

Zell (FFX) - Zell's combo can reach 400,000 damage if hes sufficintly pumped, and you repeat the simple attacks very fast. And the nature of FFVIII Limit Breaks means that he can do it rather frequently as well. Proportional to the power of enemies in the game, this is the most obscene attack ever.

The best CHARACTER party would be -

Minsc (Baldur's Gate I/II) - Always ready to deliver a swift kick in the evil.

Morte (Torment) - Because everyone needs a sarcastic floating skull.

Millennia (Grandia II) - Jealous, posessive, mildly psychotic, what's not to like?

Cloud
Magus
Locke
Sakuron the Black
Greymist the Pure

Cloud, of course, is top-level, decked out with his Ultimate Weapon, plus a maxed out Knights of the Round Table hooked up to a Quad Damage and a Quadra Magic materia, hooked up to that one materia that does the attack over again. Four KotRT attacks at 4x damage; TWICE!

Magus, again, top-level, maxed out equipment, magic, etc.

Locke with maxed-out Espers.

Sakuron the Black, lvl 99 necromancer, alone with his 500 undead servants.

Greymist the Pure, lvl 99 sorcerer, probably capable of taking down the USAF.

You can't Quadra-Magic Knights of the Round. Not even with HP-MP reverse (you don't have enough MP otherwise)

You can use a W-Summon materia to get two in a round, but it will suck out half of your MP

You might be able to MP-Turbo it, but that only increases the power by a small fraction (it certainly doesn't double it).

And Anima is still a better summon, as she has natural Break Damage Limit, and the Oblivion attack is about 10 hits..

Mindy's 'Passado' is better still, 14 hits, natural BDL, but it's hard to get her strength high enough for it to be hurty, and it occurs randomly.

Or what about the REAL munchkin attacks? The End and Zanmato?

Damage wise the strongest party would be pretty much any four characters from the Enix RPG Star Ocean: The Second Story. The amount of damage thrown around in a single battle near the end of the game is more than many RPGs have throughout the entire game.

True, but YOU wouldn't want to face Indelacio at anything less than obscenely overwhelming power levels (SO2 allows you to hit L255)

Indelacio, Limiter off, on Universe mode is probably one of the hardest things ever in an RPG.

Penance may be harder, but not by much.

He's not too hard, I whooped up on him the first time with super high power levels.

Bahamut has auto break damage limit as well. That surprised the hell out of me. heh I was hoping they didn't make Bahmaut kind of weak, like they did in FFIX.... and then the first time I had him do mega-flare it did 11,000 damage... heh

If you're going for a damage party, throw in a Diablo 2 Paladin specialising in the Concentration aura, and you'll almost triple their damage, quite a nice boost :).

You call this a mage? Pathetic. Death in approximately 2 rounds from my lame mage. (and he's legit!)

Bah, stupid reflex post. Please disregard. But I believe I can design a better mage with less levels who does more.

Millennia (Grandia II) - Jealous, posessive, mildly psychotic, what's not to like?
not to mention hot for an Anime Chick. Thing is anyone who has Played Grandia II knows she is quite powerful( i'd say she is one of the most powerful RPG caracters). Her rage mode saved my ass so many times in the game. Also her Fallen Wings is one of the coolest looking special moves and the Heel Crush, while her weakest move , is a good laugh in the middle of the battle.

Oh so an I, But i have this thing for pure class levels. Besides, he focuses on just spellcasting, I could design him to do more, but why?

I tailored this one to do the most pure damage in one round as possible, and be able to screw over other mages. He can do anything because of his utility spells, and the fact that he has every skill imaginable.

Would strongly recommend you take Incantatrix and Archmage though. Incantrix also has Improved Metamagic, but theirs allows you to reduce the effective spell level increase to zero.

Play a sorceror, and multiclass 2 levels of paladin for godly saves.
Add a few levels of iaijutsu master to add your charisma to initiative.
The feat Battle Dance is always helpful (Cha mod to attacks, reflex saves and AC as insight bonus)

If you want pure damage you MUST have metamagic. it is better to metamagic a weak spell than cast a normal, higher-level one.

Flame arrow is a nasty one target-killer. No cap and you can disperse the bolts as needed.

Suggested feats are Twin Spell, Energy Admixture, Maximize, Empower, Repeat Spell, Quicken (must at higher levels) all cast from a rod of absorption with lots of Multispell.

Just my two cents.

Don't forget intensify invalidates empower and maximize. You are better served by automatic quicken which eliminates the need for auto-still and auto-silence.
