St. Malachy's prophecies

Post by Bug-Eyed Earl »

To sum up, St. Malachy gave the pope in 1139 a list of 112 phrases, each single one somehow identifying the supposed 112 popes that were left until the end of the world.

I never heard about this until now. What I find amusing is that for all of their supposed accuracy, people have not found a way to connect a majority of those phrases to the corresponding pope.

One thing I noticed- it did say that "glory of the olive" for the current pope, and Ratzinger was elected, a member of the Benedictine order, a group which was once called the "olivetans." Supposedly this pope would reign during the tribulation.

Anyone else see the possibility that this is an attempt to unite Catholics under the threat that the endtimes are coming? "Let's get a guy from the Benedictine Order- anyone who knows MAlachy's prophecies will see this as a fulfillment and the stray flocks will come running back to mass."

If I was more of a devout believer, I still wouldn't believe this, because the majority opinion is that this Pope would be a leader against great evil, and frankly, Benedict doesn't seem up to that.

Anyway, one more pope to go and this will be put to rest.

Oh, and I forgot to comment on the fact that they have more descriptions detailing the accuracy of the prophecy for the most recent popes. When they knew more about them. As we entered the Information Age. Where little details are not forgotten but recorded.

That made me laugh again. So they "know" that the most recent popes matchup with Malachy's prophecy because they know more about them and it is easier to find something about them that corresponds to Maachy's writings.

Nope, I beleive he only wrote out a list of three popes before the end of the world. Via a giant space goat.

But yea, no surprise here. Ratzinger himself is apparently a beleiver and named himself Benedict to fufil it. The idea of wanting to push along a prophecy which has Rome nuked within a hundred years is.. Bizarre.

Anything to spur on the return of Jesus Christ? Oh, and that massive orgy of violence, it's a means to the end, nothing to worry about really.

I honestly don't think they're planning that far ahead- with all of the bad publicity due to the abuse scandals and declining mass attendance, they might have thought of it as a way to get people's attention "RIGHT NOW" and screw the rest of the prophecy.
