Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Post by Companion Cube »

Link here and a screenshot here.

Looks a bit like Battlefield in space, except pretty. :)

EDIT: And looking closer, the rifles those troops in the screenshot are carrying seem to be the same as the assault rifle from DOOM 3, with scopes mounted on the top instead of that ammo counter thing. Good stuff.

EDIT the Second: Maybe I should do everyone the courtesy of posting the article linked to:
Santa Monica, CA – May 16, 2005 – id Software™ and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) today announced the development of ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS™. Developed by Splash Damage and built on id Software’s new MegaTexture™ rendering technology, ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS pits the armies of Earth against the invading alien Strogg in the ultimate online strategic shooter. Featuring strategic team play, persistent character promotions, day and nighttime combat missions, and the universe’s most powerful weapons and vehicles, ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS transports players to the front lines of an epic new war for Earth.

For those of you lucky enough to be visiting E3 this year, you can watch the announcement trailer at the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars stand in the Activison area. It will not be hard to find - look out for the huge black Strogg artillery gun!

Looks cool. Altough I'd rather fight against other humans instead of some kind of alien. 5 bucks if the aliens use antigrav vehicles, biotech or mechs

The enemy are the crazy cyborg monsters from Quake II, so you can rule out all-biological tech at least. As for mechs and antigrav, no idea.

They're starting to get startlingly lifelike. I can already hear my graphics card whimpering at the sight of those light and texture effects though, the game looks georgous.
