The American-Nazi and Israeli-Nazi SINK THEM ALL! (Die 56k)
Ace Pace and me played our first Silent Hunter 3 MP games to-day, and
here are some pictures:
I'm about to break a T2 Tanker in half with two torps
A troopship is down by the stern after I torpedoed it with two snap shots...

What about our first mission, I got depth charged into oblivion, and then you avenged me by blowing the Corvette that got me out of the water in theAce Pace wrote:Ya, that was sweet, I died pretty quickly and spent the rest of the mission screaming at Shep.

Emulate the US submarine force, and kill them with a 'down the throat' shot from all forward tubes.Ace Pace wrote:That was nice, but we really need to work on this whole "Destroyer is coming in and killing us" thing

Done twice, effectiveness is nil with a vetren crew because you need to fire out of arming range, and they just charge and zig zag.Sea Skimmer wrote:Emulate the US submarine force, and kill them with a 'down the throat' shot from all forward tubes.Ace Pace wrote:That was nice, but we really need to work on this whole "Destroyer is coming in and killing us" thing

Fuckity fuck! We had the most awesome shot in SH3; Ace Pace was being hunted by a destroyer after sinking a CL; and I'm coming to his aid, and I set up a long distance shot, and right after I fire it, I go...
"Uh, hey, speed up a bit."
"No, wait, it's fine."
And my torpedo ends up going right above Ace Pace's VIIC's stern before
scoring a perfect hit midships on the destroyer
And then I find out that I had closed my screen capping program

Okay, from when Ace tried attacking a convoy in an IX, this is what I
saw through my periscope
OW.
Now for the Convoy Battle:
I'm surfacing
A ship is nailed!
I duke it out on the surface with a Flower Corvette and win
In the middle of the chaos, AcePAce and me end up passing:
Final results of the Convoy Battle:

Some more pictures of the Shep-Corvette duel.
It rocked, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta of the Flowers MG, every few seconds a BOOM from one of the two guns involved.
Killing my own flower
The NEARLY final plot
The last two holdouts
Now for the TF attack:
The first frigate goes down
Near miss that would turn the tide
Getting depth charged
That torpedo that missed? it turned around
The bow is out of the water
That near miss(of me) that shep talked about:

That duel with the flower corvette was fun as hell, Flak, deck gun, and 4.5" fire being thrown back and forth.

Yup, until the flak gunner got KIA and the flak knocked out of actionAce Pace wrote:I assume you were firing the flak, and the men were handling the deck gun?

The Excellent Prismatic Spray. For when you absolutely, positively must kill a motherfucker. Accept no substitutions. Contact a magician of the later Aeons for details. Some conditions may apply.

I will have to cope with that ... I don't really have the means to play online and I don't know if I can convince anyone to play on the metropolitan network. Most people around here are still Counterstrike maniacs and maybe some Warcraft passionates.Ace Pace wrote:Just a side note: if you lack patience, you will HATE the single player.

Hey, the destroyer Laffey took on a battleship with a machinegun in WWII. Dueled at 75 feet. The destroyer was eventually destroyed, but it temporarily disabled the battleship by shooting out its bridge with a 20mm cannon.Ace Pace wrote:Shep is insane, who else would fight a destroyer, on the surface, with a FLAK GUN?!

yeah, single player can be a test of patience (hint, save before engagements), but definitely fun if you're into this sort of thing (even on arcade styled settings it's very realistic and quite difficult).
be sure to import the red october soundtrack though. otherwise you're just not putting your soul into it.
