Subpar Sequels: Overall

Post by Anarchist Bunny »

To keep that crazy hooligan from making more of these threads, in general what sequals were low quality for even for sequals.

For me I really didn't like Alien Three, Reserection was good for a 4th installment, but 3 was over all gay.

What abotu Speed? The first one got great reviews, but form what I heard, the second one was bad.

Or Jaws? By the third installment, it lost all it's charm.

Very much so.

If the third one was where he was at Sea World, then yes, I vomited in disgust at that movie.

Hey there's nothing wrong with multiple posts, it's not spamming by any means.

As for the Alien movies Alien 3 IMO wasn't that bad, I was pissed that they killed off Hicks, Newt, and Bishop, but it was good in the fact that it took itself seriously and was very well acted. Ripley dying was the best part character wise in the movie. Resurrection sucked big time, too campy, the whole Ripley Alien Hybrid Clone was poorly executed (and could have done far better) the newborn was another stupid concept, and the Directing was horrible, nothing innovative was added like what Cameron and Fincher added to the series, just stupid camp. But that my opinion.

Now Bad Sequels: Alien Resurrection, Batman and Robin(ugh),Halloween 3 (if you even want to call it a sequel)

I think Tremors 3 wasn't as good as Tremors 2. It was too goofy.

Like TOD too, didn't love the ditsyness of Willie but Short Round was ok. BTTF pt 2 was great, had some very minor problems with it.

Short Round kicked ass. BttF II was fun. I also liked III.

Different group, different thread, same answer:

Highlander II

I can't think of a total difference of quality between the first and the second like that.

The first one was overrated IMO.

The third BttF was a better *movie*, but it was a worse time travelling movie. I mean it was a friggin western, there were hardly any TT elements except at the beginning and the last couple minutes. The first one had an interesting theme (they actually changed time and had to fix it) and the second one while very campy and kinda lame, had a lot of traveling back and forth.

The first is the best one, no doubt. Oh yeah and MiB2 was a huge disappointment.

Jaws 4.

I mean, my God.

A woman is trying to save her family from a shark. So what does she do? Go inland? Stay off the beaches? No. She moves.

To the Carribean.

Wow, that was a smart move, wasn't it?

"Gigantis the Fire Monster" - Their's a reason why this, the FIRST sequel to "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is so hard to find. THeir are many other G-Movies I wish to rot in hell, but that's to many to mention

Predator 2, not as good as the first (though still tolerable)
ISARMA: Daikaiju Coordinator: Just Add Radiation
Justice League- Molly Hayes: Respect Hats or Freakin' Else!
Browncoat
Supernatural Taisen - "[This Story] is essentially "Wouldn't it be awesome if this happened?" Followed by explosions."

Reviewing movies is a lot like Paleontology: The Evidence is there...but no one seems to agree upon it.

I hear the Sci-Fi channel is turning Tremors into a TV Series.

You've got that right. Then again, I don't think any of the sequels were that good. The TV series was better.

Yup. It has it's website at scifi.com up and everything. It brings back Burt and another character. Burt is basically a mercenary monster hunter for the government. And so on.

All the ones that came after the first of "The Neverending Story" saga.

Although, to be fair, as the title suggests, there really had to be a few of them. *shrug* They didn't have to suck, though.

The suckiest one. Connor starts the movie old and then some more aliens from his homeworld show up and after he kills one of them he's immortal again. There's also some sort of laser sheild protecting the Earth because the ozone was toasted.

I heard it was changed to some time travel thing for VHS release. Still didn't make it not suck.
