On the Radio Factor radio show (Bill O'Reilly) today is a segment on intelligent design. I think Bill is fair, but he is a self-described 'idiot-of-science' so usually he fails on a scientific topic. One thing he has said is that "Nature does not make mistakes"....."The tides go in, the tides go out". In a reference to his point that man always screws things up, etc. so something of a higher power must have been involved. I called up and questioned that statement by mentioning the moon and how it is drifting away from Earth. That would be a pretty big mistake if by 'design' of nature! I didn't get a chance to elaborate on the point before time ran out, so I dont know how it sounded on the air. I probably could have made a better call by mentioning eye design, etc., but I only had about 20 seconds to prepare. Was my point on the moon ridiculous or did it make sense?

No it wasn't ridiculous...
But the idea that Bill O'Reilly will understand it is.
Don't think for a moment that Bill doesn't have the time or resources to educate himself on the Evolution vs Creationism argument.
He either...
A: Is unable to understand Evolution - making him a moron
or
B: Is unwilling to understand Evolution - making him a cheerleader for the religious right

Bill does say he believes in evolution, but totally laughs (literally!) at the idea of a comet, etc. bringing components of life to a planet. A creator starting the process hypothesis is what he seems to believe.
I did get him on one point- he stated that evolution is true, but that there was no 'random sampling'. Since evolution is totally based on random mutations, change, survival, etc. he really put his foot in his mouth! He tried to say that he didn't say it, but he did and it just showed a real lack of understanding of the process.
