According to IsraCast, an Israeli company has created materials made of inorganic fullerene-like nanostructures (IFs) which have amazing shock absorbing properties.
During preliminary tests, these materials, which are five times stronger than steel, have successfully resisted to steel projectiles generating pressures as high as 250 tons per square centimeter.
These materials could be incorporated in "nanoarmors" able to protect soldiers or police forces within three years."

Wait till it actually hits the market and independent tests are done. If it's three years away, there's a lot of R&D that still needs to be done, and these people are just trying to drum up investor interest with a little bit of PR work.

Wouldn't 250 tons per square centimeter be rather large amounts of violent force? Were you to survive the kinetic energy of such a shot, I get the funny image of police officers or tanks or whatever they'll deck out in that flying through the air and smashing through buildings, Hit By Superman style.

250 tons per square centimeter, but most bullets aren't a square centimeter at the tip. They're maybe a millimeter square, if that.

This same company, ApNano Materials Inc. has also made a solid lubricant (Insert Lube Joke here) based on nanotech particles as well. All I can say to this is 'w00t'.

Sorry, It was a possible future technology and not a implementation yet, so I didn't think that it'd be N&P worthy

Great. So the armor won't break and when the rounds hit, the armor itself is punched into the person from the momentum...
