GTA:SA keyboard control problem

Just installed GTA:SA today, and I have an unusual problem; every so often, after about 5 mins of playing, the controls jam; on foot, CJ continuously wals forward and to the left; holding 'd' down makes him walk forward, holding 'd' and 's' stops him. In a car, it won't move until I press 'w', but when I'm driving, it pulls to the left, and won't turn right at all. Any ideas? I tried shutting down everything in the system tray, in case something there was causing it, but no success

Use a joypad.
Seriously, GTA was designed to be played with one.
Personally I'd reccommend getting an Xbox 360 wired controller, they work with PCs straight out of the box and are simply the most comfortable joypad ever designed by man or beast.

I'll consider that. Mind you, I much preferred playing GTA3 and GTA:VC with the mouse n' keyboard, rather than on the PS2 with joypad.
Mind you, depending on what's causing the problem, that may not fix it.

Just out of curiosity, you don't have any other controllers currently connected do you?
if you had a joystick or a joypad connected, the game could have autodetected it. which might account for any erroneous control inputs. I think there's a menu option to tell the game to ignore any joystick or pad you have connected, that might be worth trying.
If that don't work, you could try disconecting them, but that might be a bit of an inconvenience, especialy if you play other games with the device fairly often.
Can't think of anything else that wouldn't also cause problems in other applications.
Dunno if there's any patches out for SA, but it's worth a look if you're still running the base version.

I've had that problem occur with a variety of games from time to time. Could be a computer specific program.
FYI Vendetta, the PC version has been optimized for Mouse and Keyboard. Playing with a controller would not be fun when you consider the lock-on feature was removed for pure mouse aiming.

I use a keyboard / mouse for everything except flying. Flying must be gamepad used. The Trustmaster 2 in 1 Dual Trigger's come with connecters with both PS2 and PC, but now i realize I prefer the dual shock's sticks. I have a PS2 to PC adapter too, these are dirt cheap in Hong Kong.

Joystick works just fine for flying.

It's also quite possible to fly with the keyboard, though passing the course takes a good bit of practice.

I think you can turn that back on; at least, you could in GTA3.
And no, nothing else connected. I'll be upgrading to XP sometime soon, maybe that'll cure it.
