No: In addition to being recorded in a different format, laserdiscs are much bigger than DVDs (30cm vs. 12cm).

If you've ever seen a laser disc in person, you'd know they are not compatible. :P

I saw a collection of them at my uncle's house in Hong Kong... I thought they were records at first.

You know the Cowboy Bebop DVDs? They're done up just like that for the laser-disc releases... and then they REALLY look like records.

Is the difference really only 18 CM's? It always seemed more like 40 to me :? , still this being SD.net you've probably measured it.

Laserdisc releases now are very very rare. They were never very popular to begin with. The last major releases were in 1998 and with some more in 2000 I think. Now supposedely there are some LDs being released but very rarely.

Uhm... no. Cowboy Bebop came out in Japan a couple years before it was originally released in the United States, ~1999.

The market for laser discs in Asia persisted up until very recently- I know one of the last major releases was The Phanom Menace.
