I am new to USENET and I primarily use Google Groups to access my favorite groups; however, I do have a newsgroup server in my Outlook Express:
dp-news.maxwell.syr.edu
I just tried to post a message via Outlook rather than Google groups and I get an error message: 440 Posting Not Allowed. I am guessing this means that it is a read only server or you have to be a student where they are given access. I believe I found this server just by Googling but I cannot remember where I found it. There is Usenet.com and Usenet-Access.com but these cost money. There is also Newzbot.com where you can search for newsgroups but when I search, they all have 'No' for posting.
Is Google Groups the only free access for posting on USENET?
