Music request

Post by Hawkwings »

So, I'm looking for a recording of "Symphonic Paraphrase", composed by Elliot Del Borgo. It's a concert band piece, aka wind instruments + percussion, no vocals. I haven't been able to find it by myself, so I humbly submit this task to you, oh denizen of SD.net.

Symphonic Paraphrase is an awesome song based on "It is Well With My Soul", and my high school played it a couple months back. I'd like to find a recording because, well, it's a really awesome song.

I don't particularly care if it's free or not. If it's on a CD, I'll probably buy it.

You picked a tough one! I found a 27-second sample, and that was it.
Apparently, the piece was originally commissioned by the Metropolitan Wind Symphony in 1986. They don't have a recording of it on their site, but maybe if you contact them they can help you.
Also, if you click the "available from" link on the above page, it links you to a site that has the sheet music. That's where I heard the sample.

hmm... the version we played was definitely not 12 minutes, but we did play "Symphonic Paraphrase", which may just be "Symphonic Variations", but paraphrased.
