Civ 3 install HELP!

I just bought Civ 3 gold edition (I know I know) and as soon as I try installing it, I get this message:

Component: CD_ROOT_FILES_PROTECTED

File Group: CD Root files [ENGLISH]

File: E:\Manuals\CivIIIGold_Manual.pdf

Error: (in french for some reason) Erreur de données (contrôle de redondance cyclique).

I'm a complete illiterate in computer language. Can someone please help me?

Well the French thing is a known bug where they accidently give you a French version of the game but I think there is a fix online for that.

But otherwise if the Install stops and you can't just force it through by clicking "ok" you'll need to return it and get a new copy.
