Firefox 1.5.01 released

Post by The Grim Squeaker »

Here's what's new in Firefox 1.5.0.1:

* Improved stability.
* Improved support for Mac OS X.
* International Domain Name support for Iceland (.is) is now enabled.
* Fixes for several memory leaks.
* Several security enhancements.
You can download it via the automated update system (Help->Check for updates).
I'm downloading it now, let's see if it helps with those horrific memory leaks.
If you're using an old version that doesn't support automated downloading you can get it HERE also.

So, anyone noticing a difference in leaks and/or performance?
The timing seems pretty suspicious, I'd lay hard money on them pre-empting the release due to the IE7 beta.[/b]

Yes, I notice a huge difference. Running firefox in the background for hours while doing other things resulted in me having to shut down firefox to free up tons of memory, which obviously it didn't use. I'm not encountering that problem now.

It's been running for seven hours, and with six tabs open the memory usage is stable at ~61 MB.
