Well its not easy.

I froze the tower overnight after assembling it and then let it thaw. Once the frosting of the base had hardened on the counter it was stiff enough to hold the weight and it stay togather after thawing.

Sadly the front view shot got erased in a glitch.

EDit: Using a dense sponge cake helps too

If you were to have own a bakery and made that cake, how much would you sell it? :D

That'd definitely be the perfect birthday cake for me.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

I like it. :)

Although, it does remind me of a theme-cake I tried to make once. Long story short, Dilbert didn't survive vehicular transit to the contest I made it with my father for. :?

I wish I had the front view as it had most of the detail but at least the angle of this shot lets you see most of the front details(other than the bridge windows)

I think the next time I make it I will try to make the antennas out of Royal Icing rather than toothpicks.

The toothpicks in the tower makes this cake a bit hard to serve without a warning.

one way i help the tower stay up is the 6 toothpicks Glued togather in a cross shape under the frosting.

The antennas hide the tops of the structural toothpicks.

Looks great. I give it a nine, partially because from years of doing complex gingerbread men around Christmas, I now how much of a bitch frosting can be to work with.

Dang, that is sweet. Very accurate shape-wise, I'm amazed that you got the bridge to stand like that. Very cool work with the frosting details, and the little X-Wings and Ties flying around nearby are a great touch.

Hey, if you do get around to making another one someday, maybe you could try making a little Millenium Falcon stuck to the back of the bridge tower like in ESB.

I don't have to make a falcon..I have a toy one just the right size. But I'd be reluctant to put it on because the tower is so unstable already.

Its not a bad idea though. Of course that would make it the Avenger rather than the Devestator...

Well one year I made one some jerk pushed me while I was carrying it and the tower got caught on a tree branch and was smashed on one side but the rest was fine.

This is the first one that I catually had a camera to take a shot of it.

I've made a Luke's Landspeeder and the Falcon in the past as well.

Twinkies make good engines, BTW.

That cake is totally awesome. The X-Wings and Ties make it all the more enjoyable. If that were for sale, you'd have a customer in me.

From experiance in the past trying to make "Round" Cakes... In the future when making a Death Star cake... You might want to think about only making the "Top" part. That way you don't have to worry about it 'sagging' from weight.

According to wikipedia, "the Mohorovičić discontinuity is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle."
According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.

Fondant might make it harder as it weights more.

I doubt it would make it in a Food Network challenge because they always want them to be like 6 feet tall and this is only about a foot tall. Thanls for your comments.
