Rome Total War - Alexander
Rome Total War Alexander
More and more total war! I wonder how Italy will be portrayed, if at all. Alexander's uncle, after all, invaded Italy and failed at that. But ah well, whatever, it's more total war.

Well, there goes any hope of being outside this summer.

My last bout in R:TW was as the Macedonians, so I should be sitting pretty for this campaign, even without Light Lancers to spam.

What's sad about the daughter situation is that because of Rome Total War she is probably the only 8yo that knows how to say phalanx and what it is and knows that cavalry should always strike at the sides or back of a troop formation.Ace Pace wrote:There have to be SOME kid movies to take the girl outStravo wrote:You know what this means for someone like me that has been playing Oblivion and Dawn of War? Maybe the only female 8 year old, but a friend of mine is having his three year old brother add his thoughts to his game.Stravo wrote:

At the 8 year old age, I was playing turn based games, but I wish I had rome to captivate my mind, probebly better then Master of Orion.

Not the only one. My younger son David is 8 years old too, and he actually plays RTW himself. Although it should be noted that he only plays Skirmish games, and he tends to give himself a large advantage when facing the computer AI. My older son plays campaign games and generally does well against the computer on Medium difficulty, but he's 10.Stravo wrote:What's sad about the daughter situation is that because of Rome Total War she is probably the only 8yo that knows how to say phalanx and what it is and knows that cavalry should always strike at the sides or back of a troop formation.Ace Pace wrote:There have to be SOME kid movies to take the girl outStravo wrote:You know what this means for someone like me that has been playing Oblivion and Dawn of War? Hence the wisdom of getting them their own computers. David has a P4-3GHz with 1GB RAM (just like mine), and Matthew has a K64-3200+ with 1.5GB RAM. If they require any further upgrades to run MT2W, they will hopefully be inexpensive.Admiral Valdemar wrote:You'll probably have to pull rank when it comes to getting on M:TW2 after purchase. When that comes out, they'll probably demand first dibs.

What I'm worried about with this expansion is that there better be an option to keep going. I don't want the game to end because Alexander just drank himself to death.

This came along when you upgraded the server?Darth Wong wrote:Hence the wisdom of getting them their own computers. I expect what you will need to run MTW2, if you have LCD monitors, you might want a graphics card upgrade just to stay in the native resolution area.

I'll be giving my computer a mid-life upgrade when the new game comes out (this expansion won't demand anything new). My GPU is desperately out-of-date, and I'm going to get around 2 gigs of RAM hopefully. That should cover Supreme Commander too, which is another RTS that insists on having better graphics than most FPS and RPG titles now (which is good).
