You recommend a DoW Mod
I haven't played DoW in a while, mostly because CoD:UO and DoD have sucked me in. But I want to get back into, especially with other people's mod. I was hoping for some recommendations for mods from you guys.
Ones I know of:

Daemonhunter
So, get to recommending.

*takes a deep breath*
Dawn of Steel is a great mod. Adds in Armaggedon's Imperial Guardsmen and is just generally very well done.
Depth of Heresy: Cadian Gate is a mod I personally like a lot. So far they've only made changes to Chaos, Space Marines, and Imperial Guard. But they're working on the next set which will add Eldar to the list of changed forces. Changes the gameplay quite a bit, especially with Chaos.
I just found a mod called Dawn of Warhammer 40,000. Basically an attempt to be far closer to the TT in terms of unit strengths. Space Marines (and Chaos Marines) now fucking rock, and cost according to their ultimate badassery. Also for Chaos you now have the option at Tier 3, once you get the building that lets you get Obliterators, to upgrade your Chaos Lord to a Deamon Prince.

Looks interesting, but I was a little put off by the fluff on the front page, makes me look like its a mod for rabid 40Kers who had huge problems with the way DOW represented the universe.Captain Cyran wrote: I just found a mod called Dawn of Warhammer 40,000. I mean Relic conciously made the decision to build a game and game engine that would reflect the TT game, without becoming it and I think they did a fantastic job. I don't have any issues if some fans wanted to try and swing it back the other way with their own mod...but I'm just not sure about if I'll like it.

Well on the filefront page that was linked before, it does say right in the description. "Dawn of Warhammer 40k is meant for those who want to play a Warhammer 40K RTS as opposed to an RTS based on the W40K Universe." So yeah, it's definately meant as that. I have no TT experience with the game, and I liked the mod. Personally I liked Depth of Heresy more for lots more added variety of units. The only real problem with it being that it's not completed.Chris OFarrell wrote:Looks interesting, but I was a little put off by the fluff on the front page, makes me look like its a mod for rabid 40Kers who had huge problems with the way DOW represented the universe.Captain Cyran wrote: I just found a mod called Dawn of Warhammer 40,000. On the openning screen one of the options is "Game Manager". When you go in there you should see all the different mods you've downloaded and be able to activate one of them.

Dawn of War AI Mod v1.75
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=90053
It makes the AI a hell of a lot less boring than the default one. Especially useful for when you can beat down vanilla Insane AI with no real effort and want more of a challenge but can't find a good game on Gamespy.
AI that actually uses Fleet of Foot! Uses Jump Troops properly! Have good build orders which range from Commie Rush to tech builds. Good Hero behaviour with attaching of almost dead heros and running away when outnumbered...the list goes on.
It makes for a refreshing change from the AI when you don't want to play against humans, but don't feel like playing against a cheaty AI with 40% more req than you.
With my bunch of friends, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 against vanilla Insane AI we have >75% success rate, so WA got fairly boring. With this AI patch we can barely hack Harder, Insane was just impossible. Which is the way it should be.

I know there is a method, but all I see is the madness.
