OSX default application GRR

Post by Stark »

I finally got VLC working without stuttering, so I want to change all the .avis to use VLC instead of Mplayer. So I go into get info, change it to vlc, and it changes the icon then sets the default app pulldown back to mplayer. It keeps doing that, but if I go to another folder they're all set properly to VLC icons and app. The folder I was originally in, however, has one file with VLC icon, and the rest still have the mplayer one. How is this cool? And it won't let me turn extensions off for avis either. Grr.

PS I restarted and it seems fine now. However, there were some .avis on the desktop, and they didn't change either. It seems when you commit changes like this, the 'visible' files - on desktop, in finder, etc - don't change until they get a chance. Bah!
