Previous thread.

So, does anybody still play Dawn of War around here? I have an Internet connection in my apartment at long last, so I'm game again.

It's been quite some time since I played. I might be up for another round sometime this weekend though.

I have been spoiled by that Dawn of Warhammer 40,000 mod. I cannot go back to vanilla WA.

Speaking of mods, I just downloaded and installed both the Total War and Steel Legion mods for Winter Assault, and they don't show up in the game manager. What gives?

You know, I know it'll never happen, but I wish GW would set aside in the next worldwide campaign a certian number of games for DOW players which would count towards the actual campaign, like the various TT games do.

I mean how hard would it be to get relic to make several dozen maps on the planets that the events are going to take place on, then let the top 10% of ranked players go into a draw in which some of them chosen at random would get to play scenarios. From which, battle reports could be written in an 'in universe' perspective and as such alter what happens...

Okay. You know, one can play multiplayer with the mods too, if everyone's running the same one. :P

And I got 'em working. Evidently Dawn of Steel runs as it's own separate program, and I can activate Total War from there. And the Total War match I just played was about the most awesome I've ever had. My God, I never even hit my unit cap. The waves of Guardsmen...

Total War can die.
The latest version has the Imperial Guard removed due to competition from other mods, as well as numerous plaguing problems. I apologies for the inconvenience, and check out Total War: Armageddon for extra races including the Imperial Guard, coming soon.

Myself and a friend are always up for a game. We're Australian if that helps with time coordination.

Huh? No it doesn't; I just downloaded it last night and the Guard works just fine.

And I'm off tonight, and will be awake from now until about five or six tomorrow morning. Game, anyone?

Well, I'm working on builds for various races, and it seems that SM are really weak early on, while the Eldar just have an amazing early game. Farseer + Banshees = Pwn. Orks similarly have a pretty sweet early game, with the Big Meks really providing a huge amount of early punch. Chaos, well, I really haven't tried them yet.

I'd consider it, but the standard caveat applies. (I suck, plus most of you live on the wrong time)

Try me. I work crazy hours, so I'm usually up to all hours of the night.

Lonestar and I are about to play, I think. Anybody else want in?

anyone?

EDIT: Well, we spanked 'em. Course I would have gone under early if the 101st hadn't came in to rescue me...

Yeah, but it was effectively 2v1. The Eldar comp didn't build shit and hardly even tried to fight back when I attacked.

But man, do I hate assualt marines.

I'm pretty much free tomorrow, if anyone wants to PM me for a game. I have DoW and WA.

Of course, I'm relatively lousy at it, but it's fun anyway.

I'm downloading Dawn of Warhammer 40k now. It can't possibly be worse than Winter Assault... and it has new units. And a properly-done Rhino. Yay!

Let me at it. Where's the download link?

Edit: Never mind, found it. And that last set of games was glorious.

Edit2: I have decided that the mod sucks, on the principle that any program that cannot start because it can't find an essential component of itself sucks by default.

"This application has failed to start because LuaConfig.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Did you run it off of Winter Assault? 'Cause it doesn't work with DoW.

Blast. Apparently It can't verify my CD o.0;
No multiplayer for me, until I work out what the hell it's complaining about
