First, make sure you have the Foundation.

Then, there's four ways a mod can be packaged, depending on who released it and when:

* BCMod format. A custom archive file for the BC Mod Installer (search BCFiles for BCMI). Install the BCMI, double-click the BCMod file, done.

* Data/Script/SFX folders with a plugin file. Check under scripts/custom/ships; if there's one or more *shipname*.py files you just drop the Data, Scripts and SFX folders in your root BC directory (C:\program files\Activision\Bridge Commander)

* D/S/S folders without a plugin file. If this is the case, install BC Mod Packager (again, search BCFiles), drop the D/S/S folders in your root BC directory, open BCMP and use it to create the plugins.

* EXE file. Double-click and you're done.

Ok, got it to work, and its awesome. A puddle Jumper can take out any ST ship in less than six shots.

Yes, drones are nasty. Does the Supergate actually do anything ? And how's the F302 - did they scale it against the 304 when it launches ?

I cant figure out how to get the F302s to launch, but its fun to be a 302 and just weave through the stations. I put out like six different trek stations, on my team, so they wouldnt shoot, and just flew around.

And then I got into a replicator hatak and just sat still and took down six Akira's.

The KM ship pack is pretty awesome. It has just about every ship in the TNG/DS9/VOY era in it, and they're balanced well, and sized perfectly. It also contains a bunch of extra bridges, too (better Galaxy and Sov bridges, Nebula bridge, Excelcior bridge, Ambassador bridge, Excalibur bridge, and I think the Voy bridge). Just make sure to turn on the mutators once you install it, otherwise you won't be able to use the mods. Ah, and, of course, you need the BC 1.1 patch installed before you install the mod.

You need QBR 2.3 and the Tech Framework.

Various handy mods:

* The basics: QBR (expanded QB), MVAM (allows ships to split), Tech Framework (shuttles etc), NanoFX (new special effects, looks truly spectacular)

* Bridge Core Plugin and the TOS ship pack. A new mode (Core) that allows easier bridge modding.

* BCS: The Beginning, various extra scripts, some useful (repair micromanagement), others silly (tribble boarding party). Especially noteworthy is the Targetable Plasma option: when a ship takes significant damage, it starts leaking plasma which can be ignited by weapons fire. Very pretty 8)

* For ships, it's really up to you. I always recommend the SNS Galaxy/Akira, the CG Sovereign, ZZ's Miranda pack and the new Vor'Cha and D-class packs; apart from those, just install what you like. Newer mods are generally better-looking then the older stuff.

Make sure you download the CG War Sovereign. Then onto the quickbattle and wipe the floor with 10 Warbirds.

I would suggest the Intimidator :), a little bit more powerful.

I would suggest the Kobayashi Maru Mod and the "Pimped" update mainly because it contains most of the scripting mods (including the foundation needed to install ships) (but there are some that need BCMP to add the ships manually)

Kobayashi Maru 0.9

KM Patch 0.91

KM "Pimped" (better ships)

KM "Pimped" Update

Stargate Ship Pack (i added and reviewed this one myself :))

As mentioned by others the Bridge Plugin and the newer TOS bridges are also worth looking at :) (the "Pimped" update includes the CG Sovereign and Scotchy's Galaxy
