Rael has told the doctor in charge of the cloning project not to test Eve. Although his reason sounds altruistic superficially, "If there is any risk that this baby is taken away from the family, it is better to lose [...] credibility," I doubt anyone is suprised by this development.
The best part of the article:
Asked whether his group is simply pulling a great publicity stunt, Rael, speaking from Canada via satellite, said his earpiece was having technical difficulties.
"I am so sorry but the sound is so bad. I cannot hear anything," he said.
...anything but someone asking him a question he didn't want to answer. If he really couldn't hear anything, wouldn't he have just sat in silence? Maybe that's a semantic nitpick on my part, but sheesh it must be a slow year in the snake oil business...

A loony cult he founded. They claim to have cloned a kid but so far it's just unproven BS.
All those suprised raise there hand. None? No? The idea these wackos could mount a serious project to clone a person, let alone suceed, is ridiculous. They're a bunch of wackos that want to grab some PR by going on the air and telling the world that they did it. That they cloned a person but of course can't prove it in any way.

LOL, I know of the Raelians, what I meant was WTF is it with what Rael wears? I saw him in an interview- he looked like he stepped out of a 70s sci fi show.

Well, given that his whole life seems to be stolen from a bad 70s sci fi movie taking the clothes seems like a reasonable step to me.
Hopefully we'll see a fight between Raelians and fundies That'll probably wipe each other out, but I imagine the fundies have numbers on their side.

I knew that this would happene! That lying bitch! Why did she even think that she could get away with it?

Clonetroopers, my friends, clonetroopers.
Wouldn't work. They can't even clone a human, let alone quickly age them.
As a side note, the Raelians have this problem to contend with: Dolly, the cloned sheep, IIRC, has several health problems that might be duue to cloneing.

Well, we won't have to worry about that in clonetroopers, cause they don't last very long anyway

Were you born with out a sense of humor or was it amputed at some later date?

Actually, he is from a failed band in the 80's and has not gotton the message...
Hehe, what a surprise. Really, I'm quite astonished that bunch of lunatics would refuse to have their alleged clone tested to verify that it was an actual clone.
They're lying out of their asses when they say they've done it. Their refusal to open their work to proper scientific review is just as telling as if they'd come out and openly admitted it was a hoax.
Didn't they make a similar claim back about 10 years ago?
Oh, and that Boisselier lady tried to explain why they weren't worried because of something along the lines of Dolly's problems being common in sheepf IVF (in vitro fertilization), but not in human IVF, which are (according to her) similar to cloning, and thus human cloning should not have the problems sheep (and other animal) cloning has. I don't know anything beyond the basics about cloning and IVF, but I would think the shortened telomeres would still be a potential problem.

The Raelians are just taking advantage of the curent climate of fascination people have for the whole idea of cloning, staging a hoax and convertint the simple and easily led sheep out there to become member of their organization. A due paying member no doubt as well.....
Given the sorry state of science education in America more than a few people will take what they have said and accept it, and more than a few will actually begin to believe in it. In reality the Raelians have done sever damage to the whole debate on genetics and cloning , very much like that done to fusion research when the Cold Fusion Hoax was perpetrated.

SDECE. Rael and Boisselier are French.
