Not Genie. Nuclear Falcon, which is actually guided.

It would be awesome if the graphics engine could really do justice to the nuclear explosion. Not even the fireball so much as the lighting it would produce.

*huge list*
Is that just from the game itself, or from mods? And free, high-quality mods? The product description said 15-ish, but that's a much more impressive list. Finally getting a game where I can fly the F-5/F-104 (most beautiful fighters ever) would make it worth picking that one up, I think.

Do you only get the air nukes playing the campaign or can you get them in just the custom quick missions as well.?

The nukes are part of the 3rd party weapons pack.

Oh, and nice to see you've got my F-19 in there as well.

Mods. Lots of them, and yes, there are several high quality mods. This is what I like about the game, it may not be as good as IL-2 Sturmovik or LOMAC technically or graphically, but the entire game system is open for modders, we don't have to wait years for Maddox Games to finally be satisfied with the 3d cockpits, etc.

Not all mods are created equal, some simply reuse stock cockpits for already existing units; while other creators take the time to make the pits...

For example: the Su-15TM Addon, from the nice PDF manual that came with it:

Wow. A fully realized Su-15TM FLAGON-E cockpit. If I see this game in a store, I'll get it.

I can't wait to shoot down my first Korean airliner ...

Spent quite some time editing text files...why?

See? Sometime between SP3 and SP4 (the latest version for content for all third wire content), the standards for Soviet Weapon Pylons changed.

While previously

AttachmentPoint=WP

worked and gave you everything, that no longer works. now it's

AttachmentPoint=Soviet

Also, the people who do the Weapons Pack decided to change the names of everything...

Instead of weapon definitions being

TypeName=AA-2

We now have

TypeName=R-3S

So some editing was worth this

Image

I still like DoD AA-x designations not funky Russian manufacturer designations!

Pfft, Soviet/Russian designations are the best. Accurate, arcane, but with a bizarre kind of internal logic.

R-27R1 AAMs for the win!

Hate to say it, but the Taiwanese airplane isn't an F-84F. Thunderstreak had swept wings and no tip tanks. It's either an E or a G.

Huh? It's possible to fly with keyboard and mouse, but everything is better with a joystick.

While we're on the topic, does anybody know about pedals that aren't racing-style? Because it's hard to find pedals that aren't set up for driving games (left wide & right narrow). And I would only use pedals for flight sims anyway.

CH rudder pedals and Saitek Pro Flight pedals come to mind. Both'll set you back about 150 bucks.

if you just want the rudder controls and aren't too concerned with realism A lot of Joystick/throttle set-ups have rudder controls ont he throttle handle.

don't you mean the twist axis on the stick? My Micros0ft Sidewinder has that (but I don't think they make those anymore), and I know for a fact the Saitek ones out now do too.
