Searching for a New Headset

Post by Exonerate »

So, my headset's mic recently broke down, meaning I can no longer rant and rave at other people online for being stupid. I've already done a little research, and found a few possibilities that were recommended by others:
http://www.alteclansing.com/product_det ... pID=AHS515
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/pr ... sid=005351

I'm primarily going to be using my headset for gaming, so I'm looking for something that'll sound good, block outside noise, and be comfortable. My budget is under $40 (And, yes, I have found both of the headsets I've listed above for under $40). Are there any audiophiles out there with any comments/recommendations?

I'd go for the Sennheiser, they've been making headphones for decades and overall their products are solid and sound good. They may not be the best at the price no object high end of the product line, but at the entry to mid-level market they are very hard to beat.

Altec-Lansing is a speaker company, once upon a time they made the famous "Voice of the Theater" speakers, which were used in movie theaters back when our parents were kids. They make all kinds of stuff these days including headphones, but I have to say the headphones are mostly miss, they sound like boomboxes more than anything else, not exactly hi-fi sound.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

And what is this headphone that puts the HD650 to shame, aerius? :P Altec also makes im716's based off the Ety ER-4, I think.

About the headset - the Senn is a good idea. Just don't expect anything too fancy for music use.
