No: In addition to being recorded in a different format, laserdiscs are much bigger than DVDs (30cm vs. 12cm).observer_20000 wrote:Will a laserdisc play in a standard DVD player?
You know the Cowboy Bebop DVDs? They're done up just like that for the laser-disc releases... and then they REALLY look like records.Jaepheth wrote:I saw a collection of them at my uncle's house in Hong Kong... I thought they were records at first.

Laser discs are still being released? Next you'll be telling me that my grandfather's or my parents Betamax video player will have videos put out for it thesedays .You know the Cowboy Bebop DVDs? They're done up just like that for the laser-disc releases... and then they REALLY look like records.
Laserdisc releases now are very very rare. They were never very popular to begin with. The last major releases were in 1998 and with some more in 2000 I think. Now supposedely there are some LDs being released but very rarely.DEATH wrote:Heh, my family actualy bought a bunch of laser discs (Including the original Brady Bunch movie ) and a player , and they are Freaking huge.DPDarkPrimus wrote:If you've ever seen a laser disc in person, you'd know they are not compatible.
Is the difference really only 18 CM's? It always seemed more like 40 to me , still this being SD.net you've probably measured it.Laser discs are still being released?
