Yes, she and her alien mate rock.
Joanna and "Elvis" the wise-crackin' Human-Culture-phile "Grey" makes quite a pair, don't they.

Why the hell hasn't anyone mentioned Cate Archer?
1. She's a super spy.
2. She's sneaky.
3. She gets in huge gunfights and doesn't have to fix her hair afterward.
4. She's kicked the ass of Magnus Armstrong in a fistfight.
5. She maintains a sense of humor in every circumstance.
6. She puts Lara Croft to shame.
7. She's just so damn cool.
That being said, though, I just don't think you can get any cooler than Kain from Blood Omen 1 and 2. Especially from the second one.
EDIT: JC Denton's certainly a runner-up, though. My favorite quote from him is when his brother is all pissed off if he kills the Colonel in the first mission, and he replies with "I asked him some questions. I didn't like his answers." Delivered in that monotone of his, it was just classic. I couldn't stop laughing.

That badass Christopher Columbus lookin' fellow you play for one mission in Syndicate Wars. He could run really fast and wore purple, you know who I'm talking about.
I mean, being a human sniper in a world filled with corporate robot assasins and shit, you gotta be hard core.

Maureen from that game was pretty cool, too. Pity what happened to her at the end.

I actually had a AD&D character pull that off once, rolled a one on the dex check after losing the second leg, and had a dex of 20 to start with.
