We know they exist from ICS (and presumably from scenes removed from the final cut), perhaps they are retractable? or perhaps they are smaller than indicated by ICS?. Another possibility is that the Acclamator's taking off from Coruscant were not fully outfitted, however this would seem unlikey as they had their full compliments of troops and AT-TE's ready.
Any thoughts?
It's purely lighting/angle/distance in my opinion. They're there. We never get a fully lit, proper view of the Acclamator's dorsal surfaces to see them clearly.
In the same way, seeing the HTLs on the Devastator and Avenger models was a bitch in the movies. Most of the time the angle was unfavorable, as was the distance, and lighting. At most, we could see bumps.

Im not so sure, in the final scene at Coruscant in particular we do get a pretty good view of the Acclamators from various angles (better than any shots of the Devestator's turrets from ANH or ESB). Plus these are these images from starwars.com.

IIRC is there not a mention of the trade federation battleship weapons being retractable?. If they[Acclamator quads] are not retractable they could much smaller than appears in ICS.
(Which would also imply the weapons on Imperators are much more powerful than previously thought)

Out of rockets, OK I can buy that, but then why didn't they just shoot him with the guns?

"Strap him to the hood"
2) Obi-Wan did say "Old folk's home"

3) In the gunship, the pilot says they're out of rockets. Yet we can CLEARLY see rockets under the wing.
Joking aside, It's the Geonosians who were contracted to build the DS, not the Empire proper.
A single planet built the thing

1. Obi-Wan said that he's contact Mace & Yoda again when he has Jango. So maybe he was gonna capture him, put him in shackles and then request a pickup.
2. ...
3. The Hasbro gunship toy states that the rockets under the wings are actually bombs. I know where toys lie in the canon heirachy, but it makes more sense than the SW2ICS saying they are aa missiles.
The SW2ICS also states that the area behind the cockpit on the Delta-7 contains a shield generator... but we know from the movie that it's actually a small cargo compartment...
Still, the gunship could have used it's lasers... a better line following Anakin's "shoot him down" would have been something a long the lines of "we need to take dooku alive!!" from Obi-Wan

As to the out of rockets- I also noticed the air to air rockets under the wing!
To paraphrase Lucas:
"The Geonosians are the builders race. They're the subcontractors Jay and Silent Bob were worried about. But really, they're just overgrown termites, so who cares"
LOL

Wasn't it Randall and Dante in that scene? Whatever, still a funny quote...

I know Mr. Bean has stated early and often that in his version of the DVD Palpatine clearly states that he will not let the New Republic which has stood for "a thousand generations" fall apart.
in MY DVD, Palpatine clearly states "A thousand years" instead of generations. WTF???

Explained. Ruusan Reformation changed the Republic's constitution and government after the last devestating war with the Sith. Hence "this Republic which has stood for 1,000 years."

Yup. It's like the Reich's of Germany. First, Second and Third (shudder).

Did anybody like the R2 comedy reel "Beneath the Dome"?

Not really. Saw it when it was on tv.

When was it on TV?
Also, did anyone notice how Carrie Fisher looked fat?
As for the feature, it acted as if R2-D2 was real, which was what made it funny.

I agree, Fisher did look like that.
I never knew "Beneath the Dome" was on TV either.
Was anybody able to spot the X wing being chased by 3 TIE fighters
they talked about in the Director commentary? I never did manage to
spot that.

Sadly, no I didn't see it. It MUST be there.

It was. It was during Fox's presentation of TPM. It's pretty damn funny.

I was. It's hard to see, but it is there. Just look for the shape of the TIE fighters. They're easier to distinguish from the other traffic than the X-Wing.

Does it screw up any sort of continuity? After all, on screen stuff is canon. So does that mean that X-Wings and TIE fighters were therefore around during the time of AOTC?

I had not thought of that. It may be that those type of
ships were around at that point in the Star Wars timeline.
I'm not an expert on SW, so I don't know, but there are
plenty of SW experts around here, I'm sure somebody
knows

The worst example of something that they did wrong, IMO, was losing Obi-Wan during the shots of Anakin fighting Dooku. One shot, Anakin jumps forward to save Obi-Wan (ironic, given his similar save of the Emperor from Luke in RotJ), but in the next shot Obi-Wan is nowhere to be seen.
Maybe he just rolled out of the way. ; )
As to the "we're out of rockets" (and the rockets in clear view)...
Chalk it up as a film flub.
Though, IIRC, in the novel they say "we're out of ordinance" but the movie is higher canon than the novel, so oh well. ; p
Getting Jango out of there would either require Obi-Wan to call for backup, or take Jango's ship instead of his (which would make a perfect setup for an escape attempt). The "old folks" DO tell him to arrest Jango and bring him in, so I guess they didn't think of that... oops.
One other thing I don't understand, is that in all the lower than movie canon they call Obi-Wan's ship a "Jedi StarFIGHTER" but where are his ships weapons? And why didn't he ever use them? Was he that outmatched??
I've heard one suggestion offered up to explain the "generations" vs. "years" problem between ANH and AOTC (other than something lame like "the republic was reformed after the sith war" or "Obi-Wan was lying/senile again")...
That Obi-Wan was speaking from a typically Jedi-centric position, and he was referring to the "generations" of students in the Jedi 'academy' as it were (I know there isn't really an academy per se, but go with me here).
So you have like in college, students entering as freshmen, and the same year you have other students who are just graduating. So each year, is a "generation" of students that are entering and leaving. So from that point of view, you just need some Jedi before that are training up (the first Jedi) and then 1000 years of graduations during the Old Republic. And of course all during that time.. Obi-Wan is saying... the Jedi Knights were guardians of peace and justice IN the Republic, a Republic, as Palpatine said, had stood for 1000 years.
And yes, we know there was a full scale war at the formation of the Republic...

Also, they call it "The Republic."
Obi-Wan refers to it as the "Old Republic" I think just because its the past. The present reality is "the Empire" (during the reign of the "New Republic" which occurs post-ROTJ, they might also refer to the "Old Empire" in a similar fashion).

Are easter eggs canon?
Maybe there are also giant potatos and sneakers floating around in those asteroid fields as well... ; )

I don't think that the X wing and TIE fighters mess with the timeline
any. Those were put in the film as a joke really. Sort of like having
E.T. in Phantom Menace. I don't think anybody actually wonders if
E.T. is a qasi Star Wars film because of that. So I don't think that
having the X wing and TIE's in AOTC are a break in the timeline.

I've seen quite a few "Is ET a Jedi?" threads. I don't take things that far, personally. I just figued that there are some SW aliens who look like ET. But yeah, any thing on screen except for obvious bloopers, is canon. So the 2001 pod, the flash-handle lightsabres, and the TIE Fighters on Coruscant, are all canon.
[EU apology] Wasn't the original T. I. E. Fighter made by Republic Sienar Systems anyway? I suppose the "X-Wing" could have been a Z-95 Headhunter. [/EU apology]
